Building Relationships for 10 Years: Celebrating Guy Groves

This month, we’re celebrating Guy Groves and his 10-year anniversary with Wayne Communications.

When Guy first joined Wayne, he stepped into something entirely new.

I remember coming in with very little knowledge of the QSR low voltage industry and quickly realizing just how much there was to learn,” he shared. “It truly felt like the start of a new chapter—almost like going back to college again at 55.

But what stood out most wasn’t just the learning curve—it was the people.

What stood out to me most… was how hands-on everyone was from day one. People were invested, willing to step in, and ready to help wherever needed. That made me feel genuinely welcomed right from the start.

Over the last 10 years, Guy has had a front-row seat to Wayne’s evolution.

When I first started, Wayne was in an early growth phase—we were eager to take on just about any low voltage project, big or small, he said.

Fast forward to today, and that approach has transformed into something much more refined.

There’s now a stronger emphasis on standardization, efficiency, and building long-term partnerships. It’s elevated everything we do.

Guy’s own journey mirrors that same evolution.

He came in with a background rooted in high-performance sales, initially spending the majority of his time prospecting and building pipelines. Today, his role has shifted into something far more strategic—supporting sales efforts, identifying growth opportunities, and helping shape long-term client relationships.

The approach today is much more about being informative, transparent, and consultative, Guy explained. It’s about helping clients make the best decisions and delivering solutions that truly fit their needs.

Ask Guy what he’s most proud of, and he doesn’t point to a massive deal or milestone project. He goes back to the beginning.

My very first assignment from Bob was to go out and win some Culver’s business—no matter how big or small.

And he did.

After day one, I was able to say we landed our first Culver’s customer… it wasn’t a huge deal—just two HME EOS headsets with batteries—but it was a start. And honestly, I didn’t even know what an HME EOS headset was.

It’s a perfect example of how Wayne has grown—one relationship, one opportunity at a time. Like any 10-year journey, it hasn’t been without its challenges. For Guy, one of the biggest was figuring out where he fit best within the organization.

Having spent much of my career in leadership roles, I initially assumed that’s where I’d be most effective, he shared.

But over time—and with guidance from leadership—he found something even better.

As Anthony would say, I found a much better seat on the Wayne bus—and that shift has been a tremendous blessing, not just for me, but for all of us.

When asked what’s kept him at Wayne for a decade, his answer is simple—and says everything.

The people and the relationships I’ve built here both with coworkers and clients have meant the most to me. That, paired with a culture that’s flexible, supportive, and team-driven, is what continues to set Wayne apart.

Guy describes it best:

Hardworking, team-oriented, and adaptable. People take pride in what they do and are willing to step in and help wherever needed

Over the years, Guy has also seen firsthand the impact Wayne has had on its clients.

Wayne has made a strong impact by delivering reliable, prompt end-to-end solutions—from installation to ongoing service and support. That consistency builds trust, and it’s why clients choose us time and time again.

And for Guy, that trust is what makes the work meaningful.

My favorite part is connecting with clients and helping them find solutions that truly meet their needs,” he said. “When I can see things through their eyes, it gives me a better perspective on how to support them.

Even after 10 years, that purpose hasn’t faded.

Knowing that our clients see us as their first—and often only—phone call… keeps the work meaningful and engaging.

If Guy could go back to day one, his advice is simple—and timeless:

Be patient, ask more questions, and focus on building relationships early. The more you understand the people and the process, the more successful you’ll be long-term.

Thank You, Guy

Guy’s 10-year milestone is more than just a number—it’s a reflection of consistency, adaptability, and a deep commitment to the people and partnerships that drive Wayne forward. Guy, thank you for the relationships you’ve built, the trust you’ve earned, and the impact you continue to make every day.

Here’s to the last 10—and the next.
